Quartier am Hafen welcomes applications for the Tanzresidenz at Atelier 0.10 from January til July 2025.

About the residences

The program supports the artistic work and development of professional dance and performance artists in Cologne by providing a fully subsidized rehearsal space, as well as opportunities for exchange formats to connect with other artists and build an audience.

A residence can be used for the following purposes:

• Rehearsals for a new production
• Rehearsals for the development of an existing work
• Exploration of own artistic practice beyond a specific project

Open to projects from the fields of:

• Dance & Choreography
• Interdisciplinarity & performance with a core connection to dance
• Dance education and cultural education with a focus on dance

A RESIDENCY INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

• Fully subsidized use of the dance studio 0.10 for 2 – 3 weeks
• Possiblity for a self-organized presentation
• Possibility for a dialogue with other artists about the development and perspective of the work
• Possibility to participate in exchange formats of the house

Our exchange formats

The TANZRESIDENZ connects with other formats at the house, including the curated exhibition series at Q18, the Museumsnacht, and Offene Ateliers.

Open rehearsals, showings, and talks on a small scale can also be organized, depending on what kind of exchange would be beneficial for the respective artistic processes.

Selection process

The criteria for selection are the artistic vision, the intention for the residency, the possibilities to develop a connection with the house, the viability of the project in our space, and the thorough application.

An important factor in the decision is to create a balanced program that encompasses a variety of themes and intentions, as well as supporting artists at different stages of their careers. It is also essential for us to promote sustainability in artistic biographies, therefore we need to understand how the project relates to this. Moreover, we are interested in what you would like to do concretely during the residency, for example, if the idea consists of several phases and you want to realize only one of them in Quartier am Hafen.

We prioritize artists and groups who are based in Cologne.

Black Pearl de Almeida and Silvia Ehnis Perez Duarte will make the selection for the next season. The decision will be communicated at the end of October 2024.

The program does not cover travel, accommodation, or production costs.
