Within our residency program in the Visual Arts section, the THK Gallery cooperates with Quartier am Hafen once a year and offers South African artists a residency in Cologne. The THK Gallery sends one of its artists to the Quartier for four weeks.
THK Gallery is a dynamic gallery for contemporary art based in the heart of Cape Town, South Africa, and an experimental project space in Cologne, Germany. The gallery was founded in 2018 by German photographer and collector Frank Schönau, who was later supported by auctioneer Linda Pyke.
The gallery works with established and emerging artists from Africa and the Global South, presenting a diverse spectrum of contemporary visual expressions. THK Gallery contributes to the discourse of contemporary art by showing an international audience works that open up alternative perspectives and aesthetics beyond the status quo.
