From Oral to Aural over Cereal to Serial was a performative intervention developed Vanja Smiljanić for the finale of Phase 2.
It invited a sonic exploration of the space that has been redefined and perpetually evolving during the exhibition period by each of the invited artists*.
In doing so, Vanja Smiljanić worked with the symbolic representation of the act of closure and created various practices of collective intervention with the aim of softening, expanding and extending what is thought, created and shown in the exhibition space. Through various practices and the use of voice, this contributed to the poli-vocal history of this specific space.

Vanja Smiljanić (Belgrade, *1986) works interdisciplinary in the fields of installation, video and performance. Her interest and research is in different systems of reality, ideological views, theories and myths. She is concerned with speculative narratives, feminist science fiction and a new materialism that connects the physical with the otherworldly. Starting from all these fields and after intensive research, Smiljanić develops her own methods, and rituals, and explores the boundaries between the scientific, the fictional, but also the spiritual and the sensual, adapting these approaches into her own artistic language. In doing so, she employs her own body as a medium/oracle and uses homemade, technical apparatuses, diagrams and sci-fi povera sculptures to bridge and transform fictional and experiential universes.
After studying Fine Arts at Faculdade de Belas Artes Lisboa, Universidade de Lisboa (PT), a Masters at the Dutch Art Institute, Arnhem (NL), and Advanced Performance and Scenography in Brussels (BE), Smiljanić graduated in Media Arts from the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne in 2018. She lives and works in Cologne and Lisbon
